Creating a Catalog Card

You can create new catalog cards in the Catalog Card register using the:

Note:

  • The confidential feature is only available when you use the New button to create a catalog card. Confidential catalog cards cannot be shared or unshared using the Sharing functionality.
  • Once a catalog card is created and saved as confidential, it can not be made non-confidential. The same applies to non-confidential catalog cards.

Your security role must have permission to create catalog cards. For more information, see "About Security Permissions".

ClosedTo manually create a catalog card

  1. Open the Catalog Cards register and navigate to the folder where the catalog card is to be created.
  2. Click New to create a new catalog card using the default template for the folder.
  3. — or —

    Click the arrow next to New to choose another template. For more information, see "About Document Subtypes".

    A blank catalog card appears. Some information may already be filled in, depending on the template used.

  4. If you are creating a confidential catalog card, select the Confidential check box.
  5. Complete the following required information:
  6. If you are performing a workflow action on the catalog card, complete the information required for this action. For more information, see "Catalog Card Workflow Actions" for a list of preconditions for a specific action.
  7. Complete any other necessary information for the catalog card. Headings marked with an asterisk (*) or highlighted fields are required. For more information, see "About Required Fields".

  9. Optionally create a review process for the catalog card.
  10. For more information, see "Creating Review Steps". You can create a review process any time prior to the catalog card entering the In Review state.  

  11. Click Save. Click Exit edit mode when done.

Note:

  • Create a new catalog card if you plan to add a new file or describe a new object. If you are updating an existing file, you should create a new revision of the catalog card instead. For more information, see "Creating a Catalog Card Revision".
