Copy an Existing Register View

You can make a copy of any register view you can access within any register in Proliance. Copying a register view enables you to create new views based on the definitions of an existing register view. When you copy a Proliance view, the new copy becomes either a Personal or Shared view and you can edit it as normal. You can only copy register views within the same register.

To copy any register view, your security role must have permission to read the documents the register contains. To copy a Shared view, your security role must also have permission to read and create shared views. For more information, see "About Security Permissions".

To copy a register view

  1. Open the register for which you want to copy a view.
  2. Choose Views> Manage Views.
  3. The views defined for the register appears.

  4. Select the register view you want to copy and click Copy.
  5. The Views: Copy View dialog box appears.

  6. In the Name field, type a name for the new copy of the view.
  7. In the Description field, optionally type a short description for the view.
  8. From the View Type drop-down list, select whether the view is a Personal or Shared view. For more information on view types, see "About Register Views".
  9. Click OK.
  10. Proliance adds the copy to the list of views in the Register Views dialog box. You can now edit the new view to meet your needs.

    What can I do now?

Tip:

  • In addition to copying existing register views, you can also create new views from scratch.

Note:

  • The name of the new view must be different from the original view and be unique for that view's type in the register. However, a Personal view and a Shared view may have the same name and multiple users may name their Personal views identically.
  • You must edit the Views menu if you want the new view to appear on it. For more information, see "Editing the Views Menu".
