About Company Roles

A company role is automatically created for every company in Proliance. Everyone associated with the company, as a contact, staff member or participant, automatically receives the permissions defined for that company role. This makes it easier for you to grant blanket permission to certain documents for everyone in a certain company.

For example, when you grant a company Read permission for a document, all users in the company can see the document in the registers, reports, and searches, and also open it for viewing. However, users will not be able to edit or delete the document.

The permissions for a company role can be different between work areas. For example, permissions to catalog cards in the Organization work area may differ from the permissions for the same company role in a portfolio, or a workspace. The permissions that take effect depend on the user's current location.

A company role has the following sections:

ClosedGeneral

ClosedPermissions

This section describes the security permissions for each document type for the company role.

Note:

  • Permissions in a company role complement the permissions in any security role given to a user, with the more "permissive" permission being used. For example, if the company role allows the updating of contracts, while a user's security role does not, that user will be able to update contracts.
  • Company roles are not included in security categories.
