Assigning Resources to Planning Objects

Use the procedure below to assign resources to a planning object.

Your security role must have permission to edit resource assignments.  For more information, see "Permissions for Scheduling".

To assign resources to a planning object

1. Open the Gantt chart.
2. Select the planning object that you want to assign a resource to.
3. Right-click and select Add/Edit Resource Assignment.

The Add/Edit Resource Assignment dialog box appears.

4. Use the following fields to assign a resource to a planning object:
• Resource List: Select a resource and click the Move Right >> button.
• Show Generic: Select the check box to show all the resources, including the generic resources. Generic resources are denoted with "(GR)" at the end of the name and are considered generic if they are not associated with a contact.
• Assignment Unit: Displays the level at which the selected resource can be assigned to the planning object.
• Assigned Resources: Displays the resources assigned to the planning object. To remove a resource, select the resource name and click the Move Left << button.
• Assigned At: Enter the level at which the resource is assigned to the planning object. You can either type the percentage or the number of hours per day.
5. Click Close.
