About Planning Object Links
You can create links between planning objects. Creating
a link indicates a dependency between two planning objects and the order
in which the tasks need to be completed to meet the schedule's milestones.
A task that needs to be started before another task is referred to as
the predecessor to the next task. The task that needs to be completed
after the predecessor task is referred to as the successor.
You can create links between tasks, milestones, summaries
and link one or more tasks to a milestone. Once the tasks are complete,
the milestone is met. Once all tasks and milestones are marked as complete,
the summary that the tasks and milestones belong to is considered complete.
Note: A summary that is within a summary creates an automatic
dependency. These two summaries cannot be linked together.
Once your schedule has links, you can calculate the critical
path in the CPM Gantt. If the CPM Calculation option is on, the planning
objects' scheduled dates move to correspond with the schedule being calculated.
Types of Links
Proliance provides several types of links:

Using Lag in Links

indicates when a task should start in relation to a linked task. A positive
lag value indicates a delayed start or finish while a negative value indicates
an earlier start or finish.
- Finish to Start Lag: A positive lag value in a Finish to Start link indicates that the successor
task can start a certain number of days after the predecessor task finishes.
A negative value indicates that the successor task must start a certain
number of days before the predecessor task finishes.
