The Budget and Cost Management (BCM) module in Proliance enables you to set up and manage the budget and cost for your workspace. When BCM is enabled on a workspace, it fully integrates with the Change Control feature and Contract Management. In addition, BCM contains tools and features to allow you to plan, track, and report on the workspace's complete cost picture.
The "budget" aspect of BCM refers to the amount of money that you originally planned to spend and allocated on work for the workspace. This includes both approved and forecasted work. Budget information can originate from both inside and outside Proliance. In some instances, budget may be dependent on the revenue your company receives for the workspace. In other workspaces, the budget represents the amount of money officially approved to spend on the workspace.
The "cost" aspect of BCM refers to the amount of money that has already been committed and spent on the workspace, as well as all of the future costs needed to complete the work for the workspace.
The workspaceed budget and costs might always be balanced. However, depending on how you manage the relationship between the two, the budget and cost may not remain balanced throughout the workspace.
There are five major features within the BCM module:
Important: You can disable the BCM features for a workspace or for a specific contract or cost event. In this case, all BCM-related items on the interface are not be visible and all the Budget and Cost Management help topics are not applicable. For more information, see "Enabling/Disabling BCM Integration". By default, the BCM feature is enabled.
