Creating a Tax Rule

Before you create a tax rule, ensure that you have created and activated a tax. Your security role must have permission to create tax rules. For more information, see "About Security Permissions".

To create a tax rule

  1. Open the Tax Rule register.
  2. Click New.
  3. Complete the following required information:
  4. Next to Tax Rule Taxes, click Add Line.
  5. Under Tax Code, select the tax to be used for the tax rule.
  6. Under Tax Rate, change the default tax rate, if necessary. Note that the modified tax rate only applies to this tax rule.
  7. Under Applies To, select whether the tax applies to either the base amount only or to the base amount and the taxes that are listed earlier in the Tax List sequence.
  8. Click Save.

Tip:

  • You can only select active taxes for a tax rule. For more information, see "Tax - Main".
  • You can also create new tax rules directly from the Tax Rules dialog box.
