Saving a Layout File in Word

This topic provides detailed information on how to save a layout file as an XML file in Microsoft Word.

To save a layout file

  1. Turn off XML tags in the document before saving to prevent them from appearing when a report is previewed in Proliance.

    2. To do this, clear the check box for "Show XML tags in the document" in the XML Structure task pane.

  2. Be sure you have turned on the option to validate XML in your document against the attached schemas.

  3. When saving the file, use Save as... and select the file type XML Document, with extension .xml. Do not save the file in the default “Word Document” format.
