Setting the Slack Lines Option

Use this option to display or hide the slack lines between planning objects. Slack is the amount of time that a planning object can slip before it affects another planning object or the workspace finish date. The slack lines are displayed in the Gantt chart to display positive or negative slack. Negative slack is displayed in red to the left of the task bar and indicates that the planning object has slipped too far and affects the successor task. Positive slack is displayed in blue to the left of the task bar and indicates that time can pass between two linked planning objects.

Slack dates are calculated in the CPM Gantt.

To set the slack lines option

Open the Options dialog box.
Click the Gantt tab.
To show slack, select the "Show Slack Lines" option. To hide the slack lines, clear this option.
Click OK.
