When you edit a catalog card, you can either choose to edit the current revision, or you can create a new one. There is no fixed rule as to when you should use each method—it all depends on whether you need to preserve information in an existing revision.
A catalog card can contain any number of revisions. Each revision is distinct from the others in the same series—the only common trait is the series identifier.
The Summary section on the Main page shows information for the current revision, but you can access any revision using the Revisions tab.
Your security role must have permission to create catalog cards. For more information, see "About Security Permissions".
When enabled, project security permissions have no effect on the creation of document revisions. For example, a user can revise a document that may be linked to projects they don't have permission to access. However, when working with revised documents, project security restrictions continue to apply as before the revision.
