Setting Up a Document for an Action

Every document has information, such as the document title or number, that is required before it can be saved. When performing an action on a document, the document may require additional information. All these preconditions are listed in the document's 'Workflow Actions' topic.

A drawing package in the Draft state does not require that a managing contact be defined. However,  this contact must be specified before you can perform the workflow action, Start Review, on the package.

Proliance can indicate the required fields for only one action at a time. If you wish to see what information is required for an action without actually performing that action, click Workflow Actions and then select the "Set Up To" option of your desired action. Proliance then redraws the page to show what is required for that state.

When you set up the document to perform an action, you'll notice that a yellow workflow action button appears at the top of the page. To perform the action, verify that the minimum required information has been entered, then click action.

Tip:

  • You do not need to first set up a document for a particular state before you can change to that state. Proliance will let you know if information is missing when you attempt to perform a workflow action.
