Currency and Numeric Fields

Currency and numeric fields have special display and entry behaviors to ensure that entered values can be correctly interpreted and displayed by the system.

Generally, when entering a currency or numeric value, the value's validity is determined by the user's settings in the Format Locale field of their My Preferences dialog. Some exceptions exist, as shown below.

If you enter an invalid value into a currency or numeric field, the background of the field will become highlighted in red. You can update this value with the correct formatting to remove the highlighting.

Note:

  • It is possible to save the document where a value is currently highlighted as incorrect. On saving, the invalid value will be reverted to the previous correct value. Do not save a document until invalid values are corrected.
