Register Views - Sorting

Note: The Sorting tab is not available for views which apply to the Anticipated Cost Report (ACR).

From the Sorting tab of the Register Views dialog box, specify how Proliance sorts the documents in the register.

Proliance primarily sorts the register based on the contents of the first column listed in the "Sort by the Following Fields" box. It sorts the register again based on the contents of each subsequent column. Note that if you click on a column heading in the register, the register sorts by this column and then by the sort order applied to the register view.

ClosedExample

There are three contract documents in the register. The register view displays three columns: Title, Invoicing Limit, and Current State. The specified sort order for the view is Invoicing Limit [descending], then Current State [ascending].

First, Proliance sorts the register based on the Invoicing Limit, from highest to lowest value:

Title Invoicing Limit Current State

Urban Freeway Extension

$300,000,000.00

Draft

Airport Departures Hall

$25,000,000.00

Pending Acceptance

Phillips Building

$25,000,000.00

Approved

Next, Proliance sorts the register based on the Current State, from lowest to highest value. The last two rows change place because while the contracts have the same Invoicing Limit, the Phillips Building contract has a lower Current State value (the 'P' in 'Pending' is considered to be lower than the 'A' in 'Approved'). The Urban Freeway Extension contract stays at the top of the list due to its higher Invoicing Limit.

Title Invoicing Limit Current State

Urban Freeway Extension

$300,000,000.00

Draft

Phillips Building

$25,000,000.00

Approved

Airport Departures Hall

$25,000,000.00

Pending Acceptance

To specify the sort order for the register view

  1. Under Columns Selected for this View, select a column by which you want to sort.
  2. Click the right arrow.
  3. Indicate whether the sorting for this column should be from lowest to highest (ascending) or highest to lowest (descending), by selecting the column title and clicking Ascending or Descending. Proliance selects Ascending by default.
  4. The [a] or [d] symbol appears next to the column title, as appropriate.

  5. If necessary, change the sorting sequence by selecting a column under Sort by the following Fields and clicking the up arrow or the down arrow to reposition the column name.
  6. The position of the column names affect how Proliance sorts documents in the register.

  7. Click Save to save your changes.
