About Template Workspaces
Template workspaces exist to provide basic reference information
used to populate new workspaces you create in Proliance. Although you can
also reference actual live workspaces when creating new workspaces, templates
enable you to set out the basic configuration and document information
that should be applied to new workspaces without carrying over any extraneous
information from live workspaces. Similarly, you won't have to worry about
your default template workspace data showing up in Portfolio or Organization
wide metrics.
Template workspaces appear and behave almost identically to
live workspaces, with full abilities to create documents and enter data,
with the following exceptions:
- Template workspace
summaries cannot be submitted to the Organization work area.
- Documents from template
workspaces are unavailable in the Portfolios work area Workspace
Reporting registers
- Template workspace
information is unavailable in the Portfolio ACR
- Template workspace
names in the navigation trail are followed by the text '(Template)'.
- In the Main
page of a workspace template's Workspace
Properties document, the attribute 'Flag as Template' is selected.
- Template workspaces
do not appear in the Portfolios work area Workspace
Properties register.
Like live workspaces, there are two types of template workspaces:
- Template
Standalone Workspaces: These are used to create standalone workspaces. Like live standalone workspaces,
Template Standalone Workspaces contain all of their own configuration information.
By default, Proliance comes with one template standalone workspace named
'Default Standalone Template Workspace'.
- Template
Managed Workspaces: These are used to create managed workspaces and are created as part of
either live portfolios or template portfolios. Like live managed workspaces,
Template Managed Workspaces take their configuration information from their
portfolio. By default, Proliance comes with one template managed workspace
named 'Default Managed Template Workspace', which is part of the default
template portfolio 'Default Template Portfolio'.
For more information on creating template workspaces, see "Creating a Template
Workspace".
