Linking Planning Objects with the Edit Links Feature

Use the following procedure to add links with the Edit Links feature.

ClosedTo use the Edit Links feature for Predecessor links

  1. Open the Gantt.
  2. Right-click a task and select Edit Links.

    3. The Edit Links dialog box appears.

  3. Click the Predecessor tab.

    4. Clicking this tab indicates that you want to link a predecessor task to this task.

  4. Click New.
  5. Ensure that [New] is selected in the box below.
  6. In the From drop-down list, select the predecessor task.

    7. The name of the predecessor task replaces [New].

  7. Select the link type from the Link Type drop-down list.
  8. If necessary, enter a positive or negative value in the Lag field.
  9. Ensure the Active box is selected to indicate that this link is an active link.
  10. Click OK.

ClosedTo use the Edit Links feature for Successor links

  1. Open the Gantt.
  2. Right-click a task and select Edit Links.

    3. The Edit Links dialog box appears.

  3. Click the Successors tab.

    4. Clicking this tab indicates that you want to link a successor task to this task.

  4. Click New.
  5. Ensure that [New] is selected in the box below.
  6. In the From drop-down list, select the successor task.

    7. The name of the successor task replaces [New].

  7. Select the link type in the Link Type drop-down list.
  8. If necessary, enter a positive or negative value in the Lag field.
  9. Ensure the Active box is selected to indicate that this link is an active link.
  10. Click OK.
