Linking Planning Objects in the Gantt Table

Use the following steps to create links in the Gantt table.

To create a successor link in the Gantt table

  1. Open the Gantt table.
  2. In the View drop-down list, select Predecessors and Successors.
  3. In the task you want to link, click the triangle in the Predecessor or Successor cell.

    4. The cell becomes editable.

  4. Add the following values:

    5. If you only type the predecessor or successor task number, but do not add the type of link or the lag value, a Finish to Start link is created without lag.

  5. Press Enter.

In the schedule, you want task 4 to be done after task 3 is completed. To create a Finish to Start link without lag, click the Predecessor cell for task 4 and type "3". You can also click the Successor cell for task 3 and type "4".

In the schedule, you want tasks 4 and 7 to be done after task 3 is completed. To create a Finish to Start link without lag, also click the Successor cell for task 3 and type "4;7".

In the schedule, you want task 4 to be done three days after task 3 is completed. To create a Finish to Start link with lag, click the Predecessor cell for task 4 and type "3FS3d". If you want to tasks 4 and 7 to be done three days after task 3, click the Successor cell for task 3 and type "4;7FS3d".
