Lookup Editor – Attribute Definitions Tab

The Attribute Definition tab in the Lookup Editor is used to define additional attributes for the lookup items beyond the standard Code and Description attributes.

Proliance allows up to six custom attributes for each lookup version. Some of these custom attribute slots may already be predefined for certain lookup types. You define the attributes in the Attribute Definition tab, then use them on the Items tab.

IMPORTANT: Do not modify any predefined custom attributes unless you have been instructed to do so by Trimble Buildings. Incorrect modifications to the attribute definitions can affect the integrity of your data.

The following columns of information are shown for each custom attribute:  

• Name: The internal system name for the custom attribute. This is displayed for reference only. You cannot edit this name.
• Custom Name: Type your own name for the custom attribute. This name appears on the Items tab and when the lookup list is displayed in Proliance.
• Data Type: From the drop-down list, specify the type of data that can be entered for the lookup attribute. The type that is selected will also determine what you can enter as a Default Value.
  • String: Any numbers, letters, or symbols (including spaces).
  • Date/Time: A date optionally followed by a time. The time can be in 12 or 24 hour format. For numeric dates, the year can be 2 or 4 digits; for example: 10/25/04 or 10/25/2004. For character dates, the year must be 4 digits; for example: 25OCT2004. Though Proliance will allow it, avoid entering ambiguous dates; for example: 10/11/04.
  • Currency: Any currency amount, without the currency symbol. For example, '100' and not '$100'.
  • Number: Any positive or negative number.
  • Boolean: Accepts 'True' or 'False'.
  • Decimal: Any positive or negative decimal value.
• Default Value: Type the default value that should be displayed for the custom attribute. For examples of acceptable default values, see Data Type.
• Maximum Width: Enter the maximum allowable length of the custom attribute.
• Active: Select this check box to make the attribute visible in Proliance and on the Items tab. Clear this check box to hide the attribute in Proliance and in the Items tab. Hiding a custom attribute is useful in instances where the attribute is no longer required or is not yet ready to use.
• System: Indicates whether the attribute is an internal system attribute. This is for reference only and cannot be edited.
