An instruction document can have several states in Proliance. Each state indicates where the document is in its life cycle in Proliance. When you perform workflow actions on the document, the state of the document changes accordingly.

Draft |
A draft instruction is created in Proliance but has not been sent to recipients. You cannot import an instruction with this state. |

Issued |
An instruction has been sent to recipients and a response is expected. Unless you are assigned the "State Read-Only Fields - Instruction" security role, you cannot edit this instruction document. |

3 |
Returned |
A response to the instruction document has been sent to the original sender and it is pending review. Unless you are assigned the "State Read-Only Fields - Instruction" security role, you cannot edit this instruction document. |

4 |
Closed |
A closed instruction does not require any further action. Unless you are assigned the "State Read-Only Fields - Instruction" security role, you cannot edit this instruction document. |

5 |
Canceled |
A canceled instruction is saved for record keeping purposes, but it has no cost impact and it is not active in the workspace. |
